The Tok Middle School performing arts class will be having their first performance on December 10th, 2024! The entire Tok community is welcome to attend and watch the performance.
Before, on Monday, December 9th, Mr. Becker, the middle school performing arts teacher, will be constructing a dress rehearsal with the class. Grades 6-12 will go to the MPR and watch the Tok Middle School performing arts class prepare to perform the following day. Their purpose is to give the community more opportunity to get out of their houses and watch an entertaining performance.
The performance- consisting of Santa interviewing candidates to find the new cookie supervisor is called “The Santa Interviews” by Wade Bradford. Also, they will be playing a song, will practice Athabaskan drumming and slam poetry, and will be reading funny letters to Santa. The performing arts teacher, Ryan Becker, decided to have this family activity night not because it was required but because it is royalty-free play that involves zero money.
When asked if he liked to teach performing arts or not, Mr. Becker stated, “Of course I do. I have performed in many plays when I was in high school. I have done speech, music, and everything we do in this class. I enjoy watching these kids find themselves in the arts.”
The Tok Middle School will be hosting another performance in the Spring near the end of the 2024 school year. We hope to see a crowd full of laughter and enjoyment!
