Tok's got spirit!

Tok School is showing its true spirit this week. Tok School has spirit weeks every year, some years more than others. This year, we have had one so far. We are having our first spirit week of the year this week, September 16th through the 20th. The days are as follows:

Monday - Adam Sandler day

Tuesday - Twin day

Wednesday - Wacky day

Thursday - Class colors

Friday - Sports day

During Spirit Week, the entire school dresses up and shows their spirit. When Mrs. Burnham, the advisor of the student council, was asked why our school participates in Spirit Week, she said, “Because it is fun! Students get to dress up and wear something different, which promotes student community and spirit, and it draws attention”.

The people in charge of the Spirit Week days are our student council. The student council members are as follows:

President - Jeffry Alsup

Vice President - Rebekah Ames

Secretary - Skyla Frank-Young

Treasurer - Lucas Hipp

Everyone in the student council comes up with different fun and unique ideas for the themes of Spirit Week. Jeffry Alsup and Skyla Frank-Young shared some of their experience in planning this spirit week. “We have meetings and talk about what ideas and what days, whether we want them or not, and we all come to an agreement,” said Jeffry. When asked if there are any plans for future events, Jeffry noted, “Yes, but it is top-secret student council information.” I guess we will have to wait and find out what plans they have for this year!

A big question on everyone’s minds this week was why no pajama day - a classic spirit day theme? Skyla explained, “Because pajama day feels like every day here at Tok School.” Jeffry agreed with this statement.

The student body has the opportunity to come up with ideas as well and possibly get them into action. While there are no guarantees on your suggestion being accepted into a theme, it doesn’t hurt to let your voice be heard. If you have any ideas for the next spirit week, let your student council know!
