Do you like the winter season? If not, too bad, because it is coming to Tok very quickly! Some people, like me, feel quite bittersweet about the year's seasons. The winters in Tok, Alaska are different every year. Sometimes we get multiple feet of snow and it turns out to be about -70 degrees outside. Other years, we have barely any snow, and it barely gets below freezing. It can be “above” just as much in the summer as it is “below” in winters here in Tok.
The winter season also includes holidays! Halloween and Christmas are right around the corner, which means we all get to dress up and go trick-or-treating in frigid weather. Two months later, we celebrate Christmas, where we all get to put up our Christmas trees, open presents, cozily watch movies, spread love, lay back, and drink some hot cocoa… which also means we get breaks from school! Winter has ups and downs. It can be so cold that it is too intense, but the holidays are what makes it worthwhile. It has been pretty chilly outside as the seasons have been changing.
October is officially here meaning that we will have snow anytime soon.
