On February 12th, 2025, Tok School had a Family Activity Night for grades k-12 to celebrate Valentine's Day and have fun! The FAN started at 5:30 pm and ended at 7:00 pm.
The night consisted of painting and eating yummy snacks. The kids would paint parts of their painting, create a snowcone or other things while they wait to add to the painting, and then they would go back to painting. The night was Hawaiin-themed, so there were tropical punch snowcones, tropical fruit salad, and nachos!
Everybody painted the same image, an ocean scene, in their own unique ways. The adults put hearts in the sand with their initials with their significant others which was super cute.
This FAN was one of the most successful because there were about 82 people who came to paint. Principal, Mrs. Shotwell, emailed or reached out to every single parent of the Tok students for this night to be a blast and for it to be successful, and it was!
Vanessa West, one of the people who help set up Family Activity Nights, was interviewed about how the night went. When she was asked how many people showed up to this event, she claimed “There was a crap ton of people. There were about 82 people that showed up because of Julie reaching out to the parents.” Vanessa was asked what her favorite part about that night was and she stated “The painting. I don’t usually get to do the activities but this time I got to paint, although I helped with snowcones. And, It was right before Valentine’s Day! So I was able to do my husband's and I’s initials in the sand and give it to him for Valentine’s Day.”
We hope to see you at the next FAN on Saturday, April 19th for an easter egg hunt here at Tok School! And we hope to see you at the talent show shortly after in May!
