Summer break is coming up! The last day of school is Thursday, May 22nd. The last week of the 2024-2025 school year will be filled with fun and activities. On the Tuesday of the last week of school, Tok School students will have a community trash clean up. Afterward, we will come back to enjoy delicious rootbeer floats provided by Ms. Shotwell and the high school student council. On that Wednesday, secondary students will travel to Moon Lake for a fun day while the elementary students will participate in their bikeathon and bike rodeo. Then, during the last day of school, there will be a picnic barbecue lunch for all Tok School students.
A student and staff member at Tok School were interviewed about their thoughts on the upcoming summer break. Jadyn Kramer, a freshman in high school, and Julie Shotwell, the principal of Tok School, were asked about their thoughts on the upcoming summer break.
Jadyn was asked “Are you excited for summer break?” and she claimed “Yes. I get to travel literally all summer!” When she was asked about her plans, she stated “I am going on vacation with my mom to Mississippi and Alabama for a few weeks. Then, I am going to a volleyball camp for a week. Then after that, I am going with my dad to Colorado and Arkansas.” She then was asked if she would miss school and if so how much and why. She said “I will not miss school one bit. I might miss my friends but I would not miss school itself at all.” Jadyn claims that her favorite part about summer break is “being in the sun.” Her least favorite part of summer break is “going back to school.”
Julie Shotwell, the principal of Tok School, was also interviewed about her thoughts and plans for the upcoming summer break. When asked if she was excited, she stated “Absolutely. I am excited to get back home to Texas to see my family and friends. I am also going to spend time in Cape Cod and Las Vegas during our time away.” She was then asked what other plans she had for this summer. She stated “ I also plan on going to an educational conference and continuing to work on my doctoral degree. I have been taking classes all year on top of being a principal. In a few months, I will be Doctor Shotwell” Then, she was asked if she would miss school and she claimed “I never miss school the first few weeks but after that I always miss school and my students. I want to make sure they are happy and having fun this summer.” I asked what her favorite part of summer break is and she said “ Spending time in the sun in my bathing suit and getting a tan. I always go to the beach in the summer.” Lastly, she was asked about her least favorite part of summer break and she said “I don't have a schedule. My sleep pattern gets messed up and I miss going to work.”
See you back at school in a few months! Enjoy summer break!
