The Tok High School wrestlers attended the Bob Harcharek tournament in Utqiagvik, Barrow Last weekend 7-9 November. The wrestling team left the school at 6 am and got back on Sunday around 12:30 pm. The teams that went to the tournament were Colony, SWDP, Remington, Borrow, and Tok. The wrestlers had to travel all the way to the Anchorage airport and fly up to Barrow.
I interviewed most of the wrestlers who went to the Bob Harcharek tournament and got their point of views on how the trip went for them.
Freshman Gabriel Lint said “It was a really cool experience. The flight was really nice i enjoyed it we got McDonalds at the airport. I only won 2 matches. The weather in Barrow was cold and windy we walked around Barrow and went to the whale arch to take pictures but sadly I'm not going to this upcoming tournament.“
Sophomore Trey Hillary replied “It was fun it was a cool experience but it was very cold, I won one match there. The weather there was cold I don't get why anyone would live there. The flight was fun but I sat in the middle of Ben and David which was sad. The food there was absolutely amazing the tachos were like a lot, and the food was bigger than the plate I didn't even eat all of it I was sad. I got a scrape on my face a bruise on my eye, and many other tiny bruises. The trip overall was really fun. I'm excited for this trip and the next.
Sophomore Kalvin Roach replied “it was fun and cold, there were a lot of people there. I won 2 and lost 2 matches. The plane ride was cool, first time being on a plane. I feel like i couldve done better this weekend. I wouldnt live in Barrow it's too cold. The food there was really good, they gave you a lot of food. I got some mat scrapes. Yes, I am excited about this next trip but I wish I wasn't sick.”
It sounds like they had a really fun and cold time in Barrow last weekend. Stay tuned to Wolverineinside to keep up with the school's news. This week, the wrestlers are going to Wasilla for their next tournament.
