On 10/3, the Nenana Lynx and our Tok girls' volleyball team played their conference game, ending with our lady Tok Wolverines winning their first conference game of the session. Last week on 10/4 - 10/5 our volleyball team went to the Glennallen Tournament. On the first day the girls won three games and on the last day, the girls won one game against Ninilchik. The girls did a good job last weekend in their first tournament.
I interviewed some our Tok volleyball team and got their own opinions during the recent games about how they did.
Junior Nova Paul said, “When we played against Nenana it was great game because we won!! I say that I did pretty good - one of my best games, plus it has been two years since I´ve been on the court. I say our team did good but we were a little nervous at the start. Other than that, I think we did amazing. At the Glenallen tournament it was fun but I wish we tried harder and that we won more games. If I´m being real I was not doing my best because Riley was screaming in my face.”
Senior Sarah Cramer added, “During the conference game I did as best as I could, not bad… it could´ve been better. I think we did pretty well; we worked together very coordinated. In Glenallen we could´ve been better.¨
Senior Jeffery Alsup said, “I think that during the home game against Nenana, the girls played really well during that specific game. They were communicating and were actually going after the ball, unlike some of our other games that we played. I think that we had a couple okay games in Glenallen, especially our game against Ninilchik - during that game there were a lot of mistakes but the team didn´t get in their heads. After that game we played Luman [Christi] and the team got in their heads and had bad attitudes and they were not going after the ball and weren’t calling it. Everyone was getting into a bad mindset [that] ultimately lost us the game and eliminated us from the tournament.”
Freshmen Kathryn Ames added “I think that the team did pretty good but we were only a little bit ahead of the game. When I first when on the court I felt really nerves but I only got to play like twice. The trip was kinda fun, on the seconed day the game that we played against ninilchik that was pretty fun!”
It sounds like they did really good during the Nenana conference game and okay during the Glennallen tournament. This weekend our the Tok volleyball team is travling to the Nenana tournament. Wish them best of luck!!
