The Tok School’s hallways were recently taken over by water. On Tuesday, December 3rd, Tok School had a fire drill. During fire drills Tok School waits outside until we are in the clear to re-enter the building. When the students and staff were good to go, they entered the school building and to their surprise, water was flowing out of the STEM room all around the halls and classrooms nearby!
The principal of Tok School, Julie Shotwell, was interviewed about the event that day. When asked what her reaction was, she stated, “Honestly, I freaked out inside and a little bit on the outside. I was hoping that I didn’t have to cancel school. Fortunately, I didn’t. We just cancelled GAP to clean up the mess.” When she was asked about how it was fixed, she said, “I didn’t do anything, but our maintenance team came together to with several “water sucker uppers” to dry up the floor. The next several days, we had fans going in the hall and in the classroom.” The principal believes that the cause of the flood was because the server room got too cold and some pipes froze. The Wolverine Inside attempted to reach out to Blair Seawell, the IT director, and Jack Darling, a student who was in the flooding room during the event, about how everything played out, but they declined to comment.
When Ms. Shotwell was asked if she thinks it will ever happen again, she stated “I hope it will never happen again, but I am not a water pipe, I don’t know.”
